BUT WE THOUGHT THE FIRST 4 WORDS OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM WERE, "GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES!"

Saturday and boy oh boy, did we acheive new lows in society today.  It was SOOOOOOO cool!  Look, we already live on county assistance in a trailer park, so it's pretty difficult to become more white trash than that - BUT WE DID IT!  We're not kidding, and we didn't even go to a NASCAR race, join a Baptist church or eat Miracle Whip & American cheese sandwiches on Wonder bread!  Nope, we went to the go-kart races!

It turns out that parents all over Southern California that hate baseball and don't understand the rules of soccer, buy their kids go-karts and have them race each other on Saturday afternoons.  Other than the fact that the kids are using 100 MPH lawnmower engines on crack instead of gloves and bats, it's just like Little League - complete with parents screaming at each other, at their kids and at the officials.  Our friends Lee & Cindy have a son that races, so we were off to Riverside (the Beruit of Southern California) at the ungodly hour of 11am to become "one with the track and the machine."

Lee & Cindy handled the whole event with class and honor.  Kevin on the other hand, got major in the face of some 7 year old he thought was using an illegal muffler to gain speed.  It turned VERY ugly when the kid's dad showed up with socket wrench ready to take a swing, but if Kevin is anything, he's a smooth talker.  A few quick compliments about the guy's wife's tattoos and piercings and all was well.  Within minutes they were both good friends, drinking Budweiser, sharing stories about their Garth Brooks collectables from the Home Shopping Network and yelling at some other kid about being more aggressive in the turns.  IT WAS MAJOR FUN!  We made it back to Palm Springs about sunset and the day melted away into an gasoline soaked, alcohol induced blur.  Tomorrow is Sunday and it's game four of the World Series!  See ya then baseball fans...

These things go 100MPH with kids driving them.                                       Here's how we knew we belonged here!

"Size Matters" when it comes to pick-up trucks and...                         So how do they get the go-karts in and out?
