WHEN IN SPAIN WE DO AS THE "SPAINIANS" DO!

IT'S TUESDAY!  Spain continues and so does Cordoba.  Look, you've probably noticed that the past week or so we've slowed down, spent more days in just a few locations (Barcelona and Cordoba) and generally just "hung out."  Well, there's a few reasons for this.  First, Spain is the cheapest country that uses the Euro, so our money from Budweiser goes farther (see, we're careful financially - just ask that bank the government seized in California!).  Second, we're still preparing to mount our assault on North Africa and that's taking some coordination and planning - neither of which we are very good at.  And finally, it's all about the "siesta time!"

So here's how it works.  We usually stay up until somewhere around 2am drinking Budweiser at the local cantina.  We've known the owner forever (Kevin and him were in Cub Scouts together) and he keeps the cervezas flowing, so "just one beer" quickly turns into "just one more beer!"  Anyway, by the time we stagger back to the where we are staying at the FANTASTIC Hotel Riviera (which isn't really a hotel or on the Riviera), it's usually about 3am.  If you figure it takes a good 8-10 hours to sleep off a keg of Budweiser, we wake up around noon or 1pm and that's when "siesta time" starts!  Okay folks, here's how it works in Spain - most business (like 99% of them) open around 9am and then close from 1pm to about 5pm for "siesta."  They open back up for a few hours and then close for the day around 8pm.  You gotta love a country where the work day is only 6 hours with a 4 hour break in the middle to sleep!

It's not difficult to work all this timing out.  Essentially the only time we are awake and not drinking everything is closed so we just take a nap too.  Now you understand why we have been in Spain so long.  Basically we drink, sleep and...you know!  It's a good life here in Cordoba and we'd move here but we don't know how to get our mobile home across the ocean.  Besides, there's also a language problem.  Everybody knows we're Americans so they want to speak English but since we're from Southern California our native tongue is Spanish.  It's hard for us to follow a conversation in English!  In the meantime we're gonna take a siesta (since we're tired from sleeping all night!) and then head to our friend's bar and restaurant for a couple of ice cold Budweisers...

4 PICS AND NO VIDEO! WE KNOW YOU LOVE MOVING PICTURES, BUT IT'S TOO SLOW TO UPLOAD HERE!

Geee, why would Kevin like this place?                        Ice cold Budweisers with our friend that owns all of Cordoba!

One of our buddy's many restaurants that we can't afford!           Hmmm...we hear the Cod Doughnuts are GREAT!

Only 10 days until the Olympics! You know, I saw a headline today that the Chinese will be spying on foreigners at the Olympics, so it's a darn good thing you two slipped by on that one... You know, I would hate to have to travel to China just to bail you two out.

Yes, people, I have become part of the "sandwich generation"...not only raising my kids, but raising my parents, too. I haven't done too bad a job, have I? Just look at 'em - they drink, they party, they have dirty minds...there's that whole bank thing... I think I have done well so far! :0)

    I'm just sayin...
